The Metro Pacific Hospital Holdings, Inc. (MPHHI) Chief Nursing Officer (CNO) Council meeting was hosted by Makati Medical Center Nursing & Patient Care Services on July 7, 2022, at the Ledesma Hall, 9th Floor, Tower 1. The blended meeting was presided by Dr. Annabelle R. Borromeo, Head of Quality and Patient Safety of MPHHI.
“Nurses have a great impact on the sustainability of the health care system,” said Atty. Pilar Nenuca P. Almira, MakatiMed’s President & CEO, as she welcomed the guests from different MPHHI institutions.
A nursing situational background was discussed including pressing issues on nurses’ migration, quality of nursing practice, and salary & compensation. To address these issues, the Council moved forward with the initiatives on the group’s nursing recruitment and retention programs, manpower management, salary adjustments projects, continuing education programs, staff training & education programs, leadership programs, and affiliation programs.

Joining virtually are Ms. Carolina Buhain (Asian Hospital and Medical Center), Ms. Rosa Patricia Angeles (Marikina Valley Medical Center), Mr. Rey Benedict Raniaga (Central Luzon Doctors Hospital), Mr. Ryan Nino Wong (Central Luzon Doctors Hospital), Ms. Ruth Camaro (Our Lady of Lourdes Hospital), Ms. Ruth Maglalang (Los Baños Doctors’ Hospital and Medical Center), Ms. Karina Santos (Davao Doctors’ Hospital), Ms. Anna Lisa Rosalejos (West Metro Medical Center), Ms. Aster May Aso (St. Elizabeth Hospital Inc.) and Ms. Lourdes (MJ Santos Hospital-Butuan).
The CNO Council was created under the supervision of Dr. A. Borromeo to consolidate the group’s effort and make common ground on pressing issues concerning the nursing group. The council meets periodically, whether on-site, online or blended, to discuss the relevant agenda at the time.
In a previous meeting, Ms. Bodegon was elected as the council’s Chairman, with Ms. Macalintal as the Co-Chairman, and Mr. Raniaga as the Secretary. Dr. R. Borromeo completed the two-person Advisory Panel with Dr. A. Borromeo. In the July 7 meeting, Mr. Raniaga was replaced by Mr. Wong as the new Council Secretary.
